SALC’s Submission to the Global Commission on HIV and the Law
June 1, 2011
Check out our submission to the Global Commission on HIV and the Law highlighting the legal and policy impediments to effectively responding to HIV in the region. In the submission we argue that the continued violations of women’s sexual and reproductive rights in the region, the discrimination of sexual minorities and the discriminatory laws regarding women’s inheritance and property rights hamper efforts to address HIV in southern Africa. The Commission will be holding a dialogue in Africa to further investigate these and other issues on 3-4 August in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Commission is accepting submissions on issues in Africa until 10 June. Submission requirements can be found here.
