Swazi authorities appear completely oblivious to the fact that they only undermine their chances of securing the much needed loan by simultaneously engaging in yet further attacks on the rule of law — hardly suggesting a responsible state likely to use the loan for good governance purposes. Judge Thomas Masuku, one of Swaziland’s most respected jurists has been suspended for having had the temerity to act as a judicial officer should — exhibiting independent-mindedness, and rendering judgment without fear or favour.
